In handball, players can move the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball on the floor) or passing it to a teammate. A player can only take three steps while holding the ball without dribbling. Once a player has stopped dribbling, they cannot start dribbling again. If a player attempts to dribble again after stopping, it is called a double dribble, and the opposing team is awarded a free throw.<\/p>\n

A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes completely over the goal line between the goalposts and under the crossbar. A standard handball game consists of two halves, each lasting 30 minutes. There is a 10 – minute break between the two halves. In some competitions, if the scores are tied at the end of the regulation time, two periods of 5 minutes each of extra time are played. If the scores are still tied after extra time, a penalty shoot – out is used to determine the winner.<\/p>\n
