Hey there! I’m a supplier of beam type load cells, and I’m stoked to chat about the quality control measures we take to make sure our products are top – notch. Beam Type Load Cell

First off, let’s talk about the materials. We don’t mess around when it comes to choosing what goes into our beam type load cells. We source high – grade alloy steels and aluminum alloys. These materials have excellent mechanical properties, like high strength and good corrosion resistance. Before we even start the manufacturing process, we have strict incoming material inspections. We check the chemical composition of the alloys to make sure they meet our standards. We use spectrometers to analyze the elements in the materials. If the composition is off even by a tiny bit, we send that batch back. It’s like making a perfect cake; you need the right ingredients in the right amounts.
Once we’ve got the right materials, we move on to the machining process. Precision is key here. We use advanced CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to cut and shape the load cells. These machines are super accurate, and they can work to very tight tolerances. During machining, we have in – process inspections. We measure the dimensions of the parts at different stages. For example, we check the length, width, and thickness of the beam using micrometers and calipers. If a part’s dimensions are out of spec, we either re – machine it if possible or scrap it. We can’t afford to let an out – of – tolerance part make it any further down the production line.
After the machining is done, we come to the strain gauge bonding. This is a critical step because the strain gauges are what turn the mechanical force on the load cell into an electrical signal. We use high – quality strain gauges from reliable suppliers. Our technicians are highly trained to bond the strain gauges onto the beam accurately. They make sure the bonding is clean and there are no air bubbles or contaminants. We also perform a curing process at a controlled temperature and humidity. During this process, we monitor the bonding strength. If the bond strength is too weak, we have to redo the bonding. It’s like gluing two pieces of wood together; if the glue doesn’t hold, the whole thing falls apart.
Once the strain gauges are bonded, we do a series of electrical tests. We measure the electrical resistance of the strain gauges. Any significant deviation from the expected resistance values could indicate a problem, like a damaged strain gauge or a bad connection. We also check the output signal of the load cell under different loading conditions. We use calibration weights to apply known forces to the load cell and measure the corresponding output voltage. If the output doesn’t match our calibration curve, we have to troubleshoot. It could be an issue with the strain gauges, the wiring, or the amplifier inside the load cell.
We also look at the linearity of the load cell. A good beam type load cell should have a linear relationship between the applied force and the output signal. We use a sophisticated data acquisition system to collect data on the load cell’s performance over a wide range of loads. If the data shows a non – linearity issue, we have to adjust the internal electronics or, in some cases, even go back and check the strain gauge bonding again.
Another important quality control measure is the temperature compensation. The performance of a load cell can be affected by temperature changes. So, we test our load cells at different temperatures. We put them in a temperature – controlled chamber and apply loads while monitoring the output. We then use special algorithms and temperature – sensitive components to compensate for any temperature – induced changes in the output signal. This ensures that our load cells can perform accurately in different environmental conditions.
We also do a lot of environmental testing. We subject our load cells to high humidity, salt spray, and vibration tests. In the humidity test, we keep the load cells in a chamber with a high relative humidity for a certain period. This helps us check if there are any signs of corrosion or moisture damage. The salt spray test is similar to what a load cell might experience in a coastal or industrial environment. We spray a salt solution on the load cell and monitor for any signs of rust or degradation. The vibration test simulates the vibrations that a load cell might encounter during transportation or in its normal operating environment. We mount the load cell on a vibration table and expose it to different frequencies and amplitudes of vibration. If the load cell shows any signs of damage or performance degradation after these tests, we know we have to improve our design or manufacturing process.
And of course, before we ship out any load cell, we do a final inspection. We go over all the test results one more time. We also physically inspect the load cell for any cosmetic defects, like scratches or dents. Although cosmetic defects might not affect the performance of the load cell, we want to make sure our customers get a product that looks good as well as performs well.
All of these quality control measures add up to a reliable and accurate beam type load cell. We’re confident in our products because we know the lengths we go to ensure their quality.
